The Beauty of Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks is a sublime masterpiece. The artistry of the gorgeously framed shots and haunting imagery stay with you long after the episodes have ended, they stay in your dreams. Now YouTuber ‘The Beauty Of…’ has created a stunning 5 minute video and it is wonderful. Check it out and enjoy your day, maybe with a damn fine coffee and cherry pie!

Chad Twin Peaks Music Video

A couple of years ago Twin Peaks: The Return lit up the screens and the ardent fanbase was reinvigorated and excited to see the saga unfold with Agent Dale Cooper lost in the Black Lodge and Bob possessing the body of Cooper and repeating "How's Annie?"
There was a high level of expectation and hype surrounding the series after the 25 year wait. However the new series defied expectation and forged its own path, free from most of the shackles of its past and as a result, was the finest mixture of art and television I have ever seen.

Twin Peaks: The Return was a sublime limited series. Each episode was like a mini movie with gorgeously framed shots and haunting imagery that stayed with you long after the episode had ended. New characters were introduced and were taken close to the hearts of the fans and one such character was Chad, the no-good, corrupt cop on the pay of DoppelDale. Check out the music video made by Chad reflecting on his life in Twin Peaks and enjoy the iconic location shoots. Enjoy!

Paper Twin Peaks Intro

The internet is a weird and wonderful place. Often it is the bastion of cult series and fan favourites and so it is with Twin Peaks, which, even though it only ran for two seasons over 25 years ago, has had a long tail… mainly due to online fandom. So much so, that it led to the 2017 revival Twin Peaks: The Return.

Some beautiful mad man or woman has recreated the entire introduction of Twin Peaks in paper. It’s a joy to see and is sure to please the soul!

Welcome To Night Vale To Tour UK

Welcome to Night Vale is touring the UK again. For the uninitiated Nightvale is a cult podcast, similar in style to shows like Twin Peaks, X Files and the works of H.P.Lovecraft but presented in the format of a radio show. The podcast is an online phenomenon, being one of the most downloaded podcast of all time.
I went to the show a few years ago and had an amazing time so if you fancy seeing it check out the See Tickets website for availability. The tour hits Edinburgh in August and other cities in London in January.

Room to Dream Takes Us to Lynch's World

I am a huge David Lynch fan. Ever since I watched Twin Peaks and discovered his filmography I have been in thrall of this most singular of directors. However, Lynch is a private man and not much about his background or where he gets his ideas from has been revealed. Room to Dream is part-memoir, part-biography, which interweaves the story of Lynch alongside his personal reflections, might change all that. The book (and audiobook, which I am currently listening to) have been released today and I am very excited to get into Lynch's world. I'll provide a review once I've finished with the book but based on the first chapter it seems to be positive...

The First Time (interview) With David Lynch

The BBC is a well respected British public service broadcaster. It produces many shows and often some of the shows are aired once and then rarely aired again. Well luck has shone on fans of singular director David Lynch as a 2013 hour long interview with Matt Everitt about his musical influences has been shared online.

For a link to the radio interview click on the link at the bottom of this article.

In the words of the BBC:

In a rare interview, recorded in 2013, Lynch speaks to Matt Everitt about his formative early musical influences (Chopin and the sound of B36 bombers flying over his childhood home), his passion for Elvis and early rock 'n' roll, directing David Bowie, his love of jazz, how he creates his own unique music and how the imagery and plot of his classic film Blue Velvet was directly inspired by Bobby Vinton's 1963 classic single, which would never sound the same again.
David Lynch, filmmaker, writer and television director and creator of Twin Peak, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, Mulholland Drive, Eraserhead and Wild At Heart discusses the pivotal moments and music that have shaped his life and career.
Lynch is also a musician, having helped create the music for many of his movies (he wrote the lyrics to the Twin Peaks theme - Falling sung by Julee Cruise) as well as solo albums such as The Big Dream - a record as hypnotic and disturbingly beautiful as his films.

The show is only available for 19 days and also only for those in the UK but for those who can access it do as it offers a rare insight into this intensely private man.

SDCC Twin Peaks Cast Conversation Panel

It's San Diego Comic Con weekend and geeks around the world are super hyped to hear about their favourite bit of media. As a HUGE Twin Peaks fan the cast panel was a must watch for me and luckily enough We Live Entertainment has uploaded footage of the entire cast panel and the Q and A session.

Mark Frost Twin Peaks Book Signing in London

I've spoken several times before on this website about how formative Twin Peaks was for me in my youth and I am very excited to inform everyone that one of the shows creators, Mark Frost, will be holding a signing in London. On Thursday 17th November from 5-6pm he will be signing copies of his book 'The Secret History of Twin Peaks' at Forbidden Planet. I am hoping to go along as I have a pre-order of the book placed and will also try to get my Gold Set of Twin Peaks signed. If you're a fan why not head along too!

Twin Peaks Soundtrack Vinyl Re-release

I have a huge thing for anything Twin Peaks. The image of Laura Palmer's cold dead face left an impact I'll never be able to forget and Bob hiding at the foot of her bed left an impact I'll never be able to escape. And scoring all this was Angelo Badalamenti's score which changed everything.

Death Waltz Recordings is re-releasing the seminal soundtrack in vinyl on 180gm "damn fine coffee" colour vinyl with bespoke die cut outer jacket and director approved artwork. The set looks stunning and I'll be looking to purchase it when it becomes available on 9th September 2016.

I have fond memories of the music as I remember discovering the series in the late 90's whilst at university. I got the soundtrack CD from my local library and played the music in Peacocks, where I had a weekend job as a sales assistant which was paying for my university costs. As the music played I remember the whole mood changing- people started giving the staff weird looks but one guy said, "Kudos for putting on something different from the usual shop muzak".

Whilst I am eagerly awaiting the new series, which will start airing in early 2017, I will reminisce on the old series with this vinyl... alongside a cup of damn fine coffee and cherry pie!

Twin Peaks Now in Production

Showtime has just released the production trailer for Twin Peaks and oh my is it awesome. Watching it for the first time my heart was beating furiously and then when they unveiled the iconic sign I got goosebumps all over. I CANNOT WAIT for this formative series.... just a couple of years to go!

The critically-acclaimed, ground breaking television phenomenon TWIN PEAKS returns as a limited series to SHOWTIME in 2017. Currently in production, TWIN PEAKS is written and produced by series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost and is directed entirely by David Lynch. While the full mystery awaits, fans can expect many familiar faces, including Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® Award nominee Kyle MacLachlan, who reprises his role as FBI Agent Dale Cooper.
Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, TWIN PEAKS followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer was shockingly murdered. The town's sheriff welcomed the help of FBI agent Dale Cooper, who came to town to investigate the case. As Cooper conducted his search for Laura's killer, the town's secrets were gradually exposed. The mystery that ensued set off an eerie chain of events that plunged the inhabitants of Twin Peaks into a darker examination of their very existence. Twenty-five years later, the story continues...

Giant Robot Duel Challenge

"You have a giant robot, we have a giant robot – we have a duty to the science fiction lovers of this world to fight them to the death."

The U.S.-based MegaBots have challenged Japan-based Suidobashi Heavy Industries from Kyoto, Japan to a real-life giant robot battle. With this challenge manga, anime and sci-fi lovers across the world rejoiced. Ever since watching Gigantor and Voltron in the early 80's I and millions across the world dreamed of a time when this would become reality. We had Robot Wars here in the UK but Mathilda is hardly Eva Unit 1.

If this goes down it could be epic! I'm waiting now with bated breath for 2016; Twin Peaks, X Files and now the Giant Robot Duel. I feel like a teen again!

Twin Beaks- A Sesame Street Parody of Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks was a hugely influential show that changed the way series were made for television. There have been many spoofs but surprisingly Sesame Street did it as part of their Monsterpiece Theater segments. Titled Twin Beaks the sketch features many of the quirky characters of the series were parodied in the segment, including the "Log Lady" (with The Log Bird),  Special Agent Dale Cooper (with Cookie Monster as Agent Cookie) and series creator David Lynch (as David Finch) who dines with Laura (which spoofs Laura Palmer).

Twin Peaks Coming Back in 2016!

I am pleased to announce that Twin Peaks will return in 2016. The announcement was made by Showtime over the weekend, following hints in tweets sent by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the creators of the show. I for one am excited as this series is my favourite television series of all time (after 'Mysterious Cities of Gold' that is)

To quote Showtime:

The groundbreaking television phenomenon, Golden Globe® and Peabody Award-winner TWIN PEAKS will return as a new limited series on SHOWTIME in 2016. Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode. Set in the present day, TWIN PEAKS will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fan base.

For viewers hoping to reminisce or for those discovering the series for the first time, SHOWTIME will re-air the first two seasons of TWIN PEAKS, in advance of the new episodes going on air in 2016.

Widely considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast series of all time, TWIN PEAKS followed the inhabitants of a quaint northwestern town who were stunned after their homecoming queen Laura Palmer is shockingly murdered. Twin Peaks in Lego

To celebrate the release of the Lego Movie I want to share one of my favorite fan made Lego skits, and boy are there plenty to choose from. This is an old one but being a HUGE fan of the cult classic TV series Twin Peaks this Lego version wins out for me!
