This year marks two important pop-culture milestones: The 40th anniversary of Star Wars and the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. To celebrate these momentous occasions cool geeks Jude and Dan, aka Palette-Swap Ninja, have created a musical mashup entitled Princess Leia’s Stolen Death Star Plans. Over five years in the making the album is a celebration of both entities that melds them together to create something familiar but wonderfully original. Tie Fighter Short Star Wars Animation
'What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that's all but vanished from Japan nowadays?' This is what OtaKing77077 asks before sharing his 4 year labour of love, an animation showing the story from the Tie Fighter pilots point of view. The animation lasts under 8 minutes but took 4 years to make and its easy to see why. Check it out if you can.
Downton Does Star Wars
There are a few mash-ups that make sense, like peanuts and gum... together at last. But Downton and Star Wars was a weird one. It's all been done by Rob James-Collier (Thomas Barrow) to raise £10,000 for Chilterns MS Centre. He filmed the entire mash-up on his mobile phone and the result is fun. Check it out below, to see part 2 Rob has said that if the money is raised he will publish it online. All for a good cause eh!
Premake of 'The Empire Strikes Back'
What if Star Wars was a 50s 3-D Movie? Youtuber whoiseyevan has created the ultimate premake, using clips from old films to create an imaginative but nonetheless effective trailer for 'The Empire Strikes Back'. The end result is a marvellous trailer for a classic film set in a far simpler time.
Star Wars Football Kits
Spanish illustrator Nerea Palacios has used the inspiration of the Star Wars Universe to create her own football kit designs. Even though they are totally unofficial I'd love to get one of these, wouldn't you?
