Studio Ghibli make amazing movies and a huge part of that is the sheer level of detail they put into their background. The artistry is phenomenal and the way they capture the small-town vibe is charming. I didn’t know I needed this chilled relaxing Ghibli video but it is a tonic in these tense times.

Studio Ghibli Adapts 12th Century

Studio Ghibli is famed around the world for its masterful animation, films like My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service are much loved for their creativity and beauty. Now Ghibli have released a brand new video based on the 12th and 13th century Choju Jinbutsu Giga, 'The Scrolls of Frolicking Animals'. These scrolls are some of the earliest examples of imagery and the Ghibli video keeps to the style and spirit of the original scrolls. It is a wonderful short film and should be seen by lovers of animation everywhere!

Miyazaki Inspired Student Film Is Stunning

French art student Gwenn Germain is a huge Miyazaki fan, so much so that he has created a wonderful homage piece to Ghibli films called Celles et Ceux des Cimes et Cieux (translated as 'Girls and Guys from Summits and Skies') As a solo piece of animation it is impressive, capturing the style of Miyazaki well. Apart from the faces the rest is very Miyazaki-esque.

Hayao Miyazaki Tribute Paid in The Simpsons

Hayao Miyazaki is without a doubt one of the greatest animators to exist and recently he announced his retirement with his final film 'The Wind Rises'.
